Types of Dives
Diving trips come in a variety of forms to cater to the needs and desires of everyone. Especially when you are visiting a resort, the instructors and workers are willing and excited to please their customers. Making the most of your situation requires a little up-front research and a commitment to getting what you want.
Day Trips
Many companies offer day trips in which groups or individuals can go diving during the day. Most divers are allowed only one dive at a time, so a significant amount of time may be spent above water waiting on other divers.
Day trips are wonderful as visibility is increased and exploring is easier. For amateurs, diving during the day is the easiest and safest way to go. For your first few dives, you should always visit areas with high visibility and easy navigation.
Group Trips
If you are looking for a good rate, you may want to consider taking a group trip. Most companies offer group rate discounts for each diver that is part of the group. Although the amount may be fairly small, everyone will receive that small discount, thus making it easier to afford the prices for the dive and any rentals needed.
Group dives can be some of the more fun dives that you can experience. Going diving with friends and family provides a good, fun time for bonding. Rather than diving with people that you do not know, you will have the opportunity to dive with those people that you love the most.
Night Trips
Night dives are a favorite among experienced divers. Most resorts and some companies will allow you to set up a night dive. Night dives make it especially important that you have a buddy you trust diving with you. The darkness only increases the deeper you go, and night dives make the ocean seem somewhat eerie and mysterious.
Night dives should be taken in open waters rather than wreck sites. For inexperienced divers, navigating the wreckage can be a challenge during the day and a near impossibility at night; thus, only those with experience and good navigational skills should participate in night wreck dives.
